This recipe has stuff in it that I don't usually use but in this case -- the addition of non-dairy creamer - means that it is more shelf stable and less likely to mold.  You can use milk powder or coconut milk powder if you choose but it will taste different than the oat packets that your kids may be used to eating.  Totally up to you!

This recipe is inspired by One Good Thing by Jillee - great website full of great homekeeping money saving options!  I highly recommend looking her up!

Here is my version of her version that was actually a version of someone else.   I have also found out that if you have done it - so have at least 100 people.... I give credit to them all!

Homemade Instant Oats:  Easy!

8 cups quick flakes
2 cups traditional large flakes
2 tsp sea salt
1 cup of maple sugar (or brown sugar or coconut sugar)
1/2 cup coconut sugar (or truvia or brown sugar)
1/2 cup of whey protein isolate (I used Kaizen Natural from
1 cup non- dairy creamer (see above)

Put the 8 cups of quick oats on a cookie sheet and roast them until they are dry but do not change color - about 10 min - just toss on occasion so they do not brown.

Put the rest of the ingredients into a food processor and blend until a fine powder.  Put both together into a large bowl and combine!  That is it!

To Prepare:

Put 1/2 cup into a bowl
Add 1/3 to 1/2 a cup of not water (I used the smallest setting on my Keurig)
Mix thoroughly
